Google teases Pixel 7 Pro in censored hands-on video with launch date confirmation

Google continues to promote the Pixel 7 Pro, one of three upcoming Pixel products. Now, the company has released a hands-on video of its next-generation flagship, albeit a rather blurred one. Google has finally confirmed pre-order dates too.

Google has released a new teaser video for the Pixel 7 Pro, one-half of the Pixel 7 series. Embedded below, the clip is more of a humourous attempt on Google’s behalf, with the company electing to blur the Pixel 7 Pro for all but a second or two in the 30-second clip. Arguably, censoring the smartphone is at odds with Google’s previous strategy for building hype around the Pixel 7 series. After all, the company previewed the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro in May at its I/O 2022 conference.

Incidentally, Google hinted that the Pixel Watch would be ready for next month’s announcement too. As we have discussed separately, the Pixel Watch is rumoured to start at US$349.99 but will cost US$399.99 for the LTE edition. For some reason, Google is expected to start shipping Pixel Watch pre-orders on November 4, over two weeks after Pixel 7 series units will start reaching people. Presumably, Google will confirm all Pixel Watch matters on October 6, though.

Meanwhile, the same video highlights that Pixel 7 series pre-orders will commence on launch day. Presumably applying for multiple markets, it remains to be seen how much either the Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro will cost. Reportedly, Google plans to reveal both smartphones in the same memory configurations that it offers the Pixel 6 series. Hence, Europe will only receive 128 GB and 256 GB variants, with a 512 GB option for the Pixel 7 Pro restricted to North America.
